This 3-day series introduces the constructivist, narrative perspective, according to which grief requires an attempt to reaffirm or reconstruct a world of meaning that has been challenged by the loss. The series includes the Core Courses addressing grief and its complications, providing a theoretical frame of grief therapy, and conveying practical and research informed strategies for facilitating meaning reconstruction. Participants will learn trauma-informed interventions relevant to processing the event story of loss and attachment-informed interventions related to accessing the back story of the relationship and reconstructing the symbolic bond.

GRIEF COUNSELING TRAINING TOPICS
This series offers intensive and professional training in grief therapy, counseling and support, in which participants learn:

A wide range of techniques to process grief in individual and group settings;

Different forms of dialogue to process pain;

Creative ways to work with loss in grief therapy;

Processing on personal loss, deepening emotional awareness, and addressing self-care;

Knowledge and methods for particularly difficult losses, such as suicide, violent death and child or spousal loss.

PORTLAND INSTITUTE CREDITS
Participants in this series are eligible for credits for 3 Core Courses for Certification in Grief Therapy as Meaning Reconstruction.
This series also has the recognition of Activity of Health Interest issued by the Department de Salut de Generalitat de Catalunya (Registration No.: 9002E/87/2019) and is accredited with 5.0 credits by the Catalan Council for the Continuing Education of Health Professionals (09/025079-PG).
