Death is a crisis that all families would encounter and grief is a family affair.  In the aftermath of bereavement, no loss is experienced in vacuum and no one is spared from its impact.  This training will equip you to look at grief and loss through a meaning reconstruction lens, and appreciate the systemic impact on the bereaved families.  This will also enable you to go beyond the individual perspectives and facilitate the post-loss adjustments and meaning-making attempts within and between all family members, both adults and children.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Describe the systemic and meaning reconstruction perspective of grief and loss

  • Recognize developmental and relational factors that influence adjustment to loss in families

  • Develop skills in assessing and supporting bereaved families using meaning-oriented interventive tools

  • Emotional shockwaves of death in family

  • Loss and grief from systemic perspectives

  • Application of meaning-oriented interventive tools
